FAQ'S

faq's

Can we do paper score sheets?   All D6 teams are required to score games and scrimmages through GameSheet.

Do I need to track coaches SafeSport? No, this is done through their coaching certification and tracked by coach coordinator.

Can I update the team game calendar? No, all on-ice scheduling is done by Justin Graber Contact him directly for any changes:  plshaice@gmail.com

Why don't RSVPs show up in SportsEngine? Every time the ice scheduler updates any ice time for any team in the association, it updates the entire calendar so RSVPs are wiped out. Please create a separate event on your team's individual calendar if you need to gather RSVPs for a particular game or event.

What does the team manager do? A Team Manager is a volunteer parent or guardian that assists the coach and/or assistant coaches of each hockey team. The Team Manager must be trustworthy, responsible, organized, exhibit a positive attitude, and is responsible for promoting the Laker Values of RESPECT AND INTEGRITY, PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE AT THE INDIVIDUAL, TEAM AND ORGANIZATION LEVELS, as more fully set forth on the PLSHA website:  https://www.plsha.com/values
The Team Manager handles the business of the team and is a liaison between the parents or guardians, players, coaches, and the PLSHA Traveling Manager Coordinator, Colleen Audas. Team Manager duties are listed below.

SETTING UP YOUR TEAM

  • MANAGER TEAM PAGE ACCESS & SETUP -

  • MEET COACHING STAFF  - Review team meeting agenda, season expectations, roles and responsibilities.
  • BOOK TOURNAMENT HOTEL - Confirm with tournament director Troy Christopherson to make sure a hotel block was completed for your away tournament(s). If not, hotels book up fast so this is one of the first things you should do.
  • TEAM COMMUNICATION - Send out an introduction email  about schedule, team meetings, etc. You may use SportsEngine or whatever communication method you prefer.
  • TEAM MEETING - Schedule meeting with coaches, players and parents to kick off the season (check Rink 1 conference room availability.......cost of the room is invoiced to your team ice bill).
  •  Other things you can discuss:
    • Introductions - coaches, managers, players & families.
    • Coaches expectations
    • Manager covers off-ice items, including:
    • Contact info - collect and/or validate team contact information to create distribution lists & roster cards
    • Team Calendar & Tournament info – share out with team any details available, communication plans for schedule changes and/or expectations (remind them to check calendar often as changes do occur).
    • Request & assign volunteers, as needed (detailed responsibilities under "roles & responsibilities section" below). Suggested volunteers:
      1. Treasurer - team checkbook & budget
      2. Scrimmage Coordinator - team scrimmage schedule
      3. Volunteer Coordinator - assigns & tracks team volunteer hours
      4. Website Manager - updates team web page
      5. Game Manager - does the electronic scoring for games and/or trains a group of parents to assist therewith

      7. Social Event Coordinator - social events, pasta parties, team parties, etc.
    • Jerseys - Each level has a jersey coordinator who sends you a file with your team's sizing and numbers that you will then fill out and get back to them. The jersey coordinator will arrange getting the completed jerseys to you. Make sure to document jersey #'s for contact sheets & team rosters.
    • Slush Fund – have the treasurer collect a slush fund check....we suggest starting with a minimum of $100 (upper level teams may want to collect more).

REGISTRATION & DOCUMENTS

  • OFFICIAL ROSTER - You will be provided an official roster by the PLSHA Registrar when available from D6. Keep this link saved as you will need it for tournaments and games if asked. It is dynamic so it will get updated whenever there is a change like a coach added, etc.
  • OFFICIAL FORMS
    • Volunteer Deposit Check - Association collects at tryouts
    • Birth Certificate - Managed by Registrar
    • Register for Arbiter - Request and verify referees. Both manager and scrimmage coordinator should register for access.
    1. To get access, contact Terri Loken (d6refereescheduler@gmail.com).
    2. Request a referee for scrimmages through the form on D6 website .
    3. Validate referee schedule for district games.
    4. Confirm referee's are scheduled on Arbiter prior to scrimmage (highly suggested).
    • SafeSport Certification - all volunteers that have contact with the players will need to complete this.
      • USA Hockey Registration - Needed for SafeSport training
      • SafeSport Training - All volunteers
      • Background screening – All Volunteers (fee)
    • Team Web Page - Rosters have been added to team pages by the site administrator. Do not alter rosters.

    • Team Roster Cards (small and large) – Both small and large templates are available at the bottom of this page (optional). If you are including parent phone numbers please be cognizant that some may not want to share this information for a number of reasons.  Ask, don't assume. (These are not as necessary with rosters on SportsEngine, but parents usually appreciate them.)
    • Managers Team Book - Includes official team roster, coaches certification numbers, concussion medical clearance forms and/or other documentation as required by PLSHA. Bring this folder to all games and tournaments. (This is used less now as the roster is a dynamic link, which includes coaches certification numbers.)

APPAREL, DOCUMENTS & LINKS

TEAM APPAREL

SUGGESTED ASSOCIATION APPAREL: All Prior Lake traveling teams are highly suggested to wear team apparel to/from all games and scrimmages. This is to provide team unity and a consistent association brand. Standard apparel for all players is jacket and pants ordered from General Sports. Coaches may suggest a specific style for all players. All other apparel is optional and at the team/family discretion. Reference the PLSHA Team Store for ordering options and dates for open order opportunities.
