• Locker Room Policy – PLSHA requires a locker room monitor (same gender adult) be assigned for all ice times.  Make sure parents assigned to this role have completed the required background check. Direct parents to PLSHA website to review Locker Room and Zero Tolerance Policies. Refer to PLSHA Locker Room Policy for questions about mixed gender teams. Note that locker room monitors are also responsible for opening and securing locker room doors. Locker room keys are picked up from the Dakotah Arena office; personal car keys are a required “deposit” for the room keys. Locker room monitors must stay in the room the entire time that players are in there.
  • Volunteers – Assigning volunteers to games, scrimmages, locker rooms and other activities as needed. Refer to the Volunteer page on the PLSHA website for the current Volunteer Policies and requirements. Please make sure parents understand the volunteer requirements (hours) and/or buyout option. Deposit checks for volunteer hours will be cashed at end of season if requirements are not met.  D6/Association hours are managed through DIBS. You no longer need to track these.
  • Game/Scrimmage Volunteers:
    • Home games/scrimmages – one person to run clock and one person for penalty box, and one person to electronically score the game.  The game coordinator is responsible for Electronic Scoring and training volunteers to assist therewith.
    • Away games/scrimmages – one person for penalty box
    • One locker room monitor (parent) is required for all ice times.
    • Note; make sure parent volunteers know how to run clock before first game.
  • Forms – there is a game volunteer tracker template under documents at the end of this page.
  • Track US Hockey Background Check & Registrations (All Volunteers)
    • USA Hockey Registration - All volunteers need to register for a USA Hockey # (free). Need this for SafeSport.
    • Background screening (cost)/ SafeSport Training - Certain parent volunteers are required to complete prior to contact with the players (locker room monitors, team managers, treasurers). Volunteers doing game day duties do not need to complete SafeSport and background checks. Coaches have already completed this through their coaching certification.
